Happy 1st Birthday Sinalei

I cant believe that our daughter is already a year old. It feels like its really flown by. She wasn't the easiest baby, but she brings so much joy into our lives. She decided to start walking right before her birthday and she absolutely loves it. She loves to play with her sister, as long as she's not bossing her around. We love you Sinalei.

Oh the Holidays (warning tons of pictures)

So I haven't blogged in a while because I've been so busy with my kids. We've done a lot of fun things the past couple of months.

In November, Jared and I took our daughter Sela to see the Backyardigans Live (courtesy of her Grandma Sela). The seats were awesome! Front and center...we couldn't have asked for better seats. Our daughter had the time of her life. She was laughing, singing and dancing.

Thanksgiving was great too. We spent it with both of our families. We had Thansgiving lunch with the Rogers clan and then went to my families. During Thanksgiving weekend we took family pictures at the beach with Jared's family. They turned out great. Here are a couple of them.

It was really hard to take pictures with my oldest daughter. She is such a handful. I actually lost my temper with her because she would not cooperate at all..lol. Oh well I guess I cant expect a lot out of a 1 1/2 year old. Hopefully next time she'll be better behaved. My nephew and youngest daughter were hamming it up so that was great. Overall Thanksgiving was wonderful. I love spending time with our families and seeing how much our families have grown.
December has been such a whirlwind with Christmas coming up and so many ward activities. We had a great time at the ward Christmas party. I heard my daughter Sela was tearing it up on the dance floor with everyone. She is so full of life and is such a little comedian. She cracks us up everyday. Oh yeah and her favorite place to go is nursery on Sunday. She begs to go up there during Sacrament. It's kind of funny.
My Great Aunt also came down to visit and we spent a lot of time with her. She spoils my kids and me rotten!!! I got some awesome perfume by Ed Hardy. It's my new favcorite scent. We also got to go to dinner a couple of times. My daughter's love her so much.

For Christmas my siblings and I got together to take pictures for my parents. I think they came out cute.

I love my brothers and sisters. It's getting so fun because as they get older I can relate to them more...and not feel so much like their mother.

This past week I got together with a bunch of my girlfriends to wish our friend Chiemi goodbye as she relocates to Utah. It was sooooo much fun just reminicing about old memories. We were laughing so hard. I am going to miss her so much and hopefully I'll be able to visit her soon. have a safe trip Chiemi and please keep in touch. I am so glad that we reconnected.
As Christmas draws near I am just so overcome with a feeling of gratitude. Jared and I have been so blessed this year. It is so easy to look at all of the negative things happening in our lives, but if we just take a step back and see all of the blessings we have I'm sure all of our attitudes would change. My visiting teacher last month suggested making a "I am thankful for..." journal. I think it's a great idea. You get to think of all the "little" blessings we receive each day. One blessing that I am extremely thankful for is our families. Without them I don't know where my husband and I would be....we'd probably be homeless..lol..k maybe not homeless, but we sure would be struggling. I am also thankful for my children. They are the WORLD to me. They make me a better, more patient, loving person. Because of them I've gained a better understanding of our Savior's love for each of us. As Christmas comes along lets try not to focus on the "WORDLY" things and focus more on the true meaning of Christmas. Lets try to serve more and be better people. I love my family and my friends and am thankful for the impact you all have had in my life.

Happy 15th Birthday Jeff!!!

Friday was also my baby brother's birthday. I cant believe this kid is already 15. I remember when my parents brought him home from the hospital and how tiny and fat he was. Time is flying by way too fast. I practically raised Jeff and Nikki. I remember I had to look after my brother after school when I was young because my mom had a night job so she needed to sleep. It was great bonding time. I would take him out in his stroller and bring him with me whenever I played with my friends. I guess that's probably why I feel a little like Jeff and Nikki's mini mom. I am always so protective of them. If you don't know Jeff you would think he is a quiet guy, but he is one of the most hilarious people I know...besides my husband. He's smart, kind and a great uncle. He loves to tease my daughter Sela and play with her. I am so thankful to have brothers and sisters. It would be so lonely without them. Happy Birthday young Jeff. I love you!

Party Like a Rock Star!!!

On Friday night, Jared and I got together with a bunch of friends. Kellie and Brett decided to throw a Rock Band party. We were all suppose to dress like Rock Stars. Jared and I did not dress the part, but all of friends did. They looked awesome!

Kellie and Chiemi were hot! I think this look suits them..lol..seriously.
Here are Chiemi and I trying to look evil. Chiemi has the look down, but I need to work on that look a little more.
It was a fun occasion. It's always nice to be around good company. I'm excited for our girls night out tonight. After a fun filled night I came home and started quilting again. I finished the quilt I was working on and started a new one. When I said obsessed...I was not joking. I stayed up till 3 in the morning working on it.

This is my finished quilt that my MIL pretty much made. I did all the finishing touches.
Here is the new one I am working on. I am in love with it! I cant wait to finish it!

Labor of Love

A couple of months ago my friend Chiemi taught me the basics of sewing/quilting. I am so grateful for the time and effort she put into trying to teach me. After she taught me I went a bit quilt crazy and sewed a bunch of stuff together. I don't know how to bind them together and put it together, but the last couple of days my mother-in-law has been teaching me. The other day she said that quilting truly is a "labor of love" I thought about it and it really is. It takes a lot of time and patience. You don't just make quilts for random people. You make them for people you care about...family and friends.
Well I am really excited to be working on my sewing skills. About a month ago I bought a quilt kit from Joanns for $10 and I think it turned out cute. My mother in law was suppose to help me, but the material was too cute and I didn't want to mess it up so she sewed the whole thing together. It turned out adorable!
It looks so much cuter in person. We still need to finish binding it.
After I watched my MIL I got started on making one all by myself.
I absolutely love learning new things and gaining new hobbies. I really want to learn how to sew clothing now. Since Jared and I will be moving to Utah next year I think it will be a big help financially if I can make some of the girls clothing.
Here is my quilt in progress.

I am pretty happy with how it is coming along. Hopefully I will finish it by next week. I think this will be my new obsession.
On a side note. My daughter Sinalei is pulling herself up everywhere. Its amazing how fast these kids grow!
