Labor of Love

A couple of months ago my friend Chiemi taught me the basics of sewing/quilting. I am so grateful for the time and effort she put into trying to teach me. After she taught me I went a bit quilt crazy and sewed a bunch of stuff together. I don't know how to bind them together and put it together, but the last couple of days my mother-in-law has been teaching me. The other day she said that quilting truly is a "labor of love" I thought about it and it really is. It takes a lot of time and patience. You don't just make quilts for random people. You make them for people you care about...family and friends.
Well I am really excited to be working on my sewing skills. About a month ago I bought a quilt kit from Joanns for $10 and I think it turned out cute. My mother in law was suppose to help me, but the material was too cute and I didn't want to mess it up so she sewed the whole thing together. It turned out adorable!
It looks so much cuter in person. We still need to finish binding it.
After I watched my MIL I got started on making one all by myself.
I absolutely love learning new things and gaining new hobbies. I really want to learn how to sew clothing now. Since Jared and I will be moving to Utah next year I think it will be a big help financially if I can make some of the girls clothing.
Here is my quilt in progress.

I am pretty happy with how it is coming along. Hopefully I will finish it by next week. I think this will be my new obsession.
On a side note. My daughter Sinalei is pulling herself up everywhere. Its amazing how fast these kids grow!

Trick or Treat!!!!!

We love Halloween here in the Roger's household. It is just so much fun to dress the kids up. This year both of my girls were Garden Fairies. Sinalei got to wear Sela's old costume. One of the good things about having my daughter's in the same month is that they wear the same season of clothing. I am sure Sinalei will HATE that she will wear hand-me-downs pretty much her whole life...lol. Anyway, Sela absolutely had a ball this year. Each year it is getting more exciting because Sela actually knows what is going on. Here is a couple of pictures

I cannot believe that another Halloween has already passed. It made me so sad to think about how fast time is flying by. Sinalei is no longer so needy. She kind of does her own thing, but she LOVES to play with her sister (when she's not so rough). Sela is just full of life and curiosity. She loves to find markers (espedcially black permanent marker) and draw all over herself. I'm just thankful she hasn't tried the wall YET. Sela also is developing new words everyday. On Friday she said. "Where are you?" It was kinda creepy at first because she was so clear. She was yelling it to her Aunt Anna upstairs, but we can never get her to say things on demand. Sela also got a little boyfriend named Kaleb.

Sela kept patting the ground next to her so he would come sit down. She even tried to kiss him, but he wasn't up for it. Sela's Grandpa Mike said "you're going to wish you would of taken that kiss in a couple of years!" lol...it was hilarious.
It was also fun to take Sela around our neighborhood. We only managed to hit up 4 houses because Sela couldn't take the disappointment. Each time we knocked and no one was there, she would cry because she likes to say TRICK OR TREAT!
Next year will be even more fun because we'll have 2 little mooches running around. I cant wait! We all know what Sinalei will be...lol.
So this is going to be a mixed blog because I haven't had the time to post anything
Jared and I are big suppoters og Yes on Prop 8. I hope all who can vote will vote. Last Saturday we joined some of our ward members out on a busy street to hold signs. I was a little unsure if I should take my kids because people have been ruining some of our property because we have signs infront of our houses. So I thought well let me go with Jared, bring our girls and we'll just stay for 10 minutes. We ended up staying the entire time. People in orange County are soooo supportive. We got tons of honks and thumbs up. It was great.
Wohooo go Sela.
We're actually going to do go hold signs today again. It's a good experience for our family.
Also, my mother in law and I have gone blanket CRAZY. We've gone to LA the past 2 Friday's to get fleece. We've made blankets for almost everyone in the family. I am actually obsessed with making them. Last night we stayed up till maybe 1:30am cutting away. I love them. They are so warm and cuddley. I sleep with my daughter's blankets all the time. You can never have enough of them. My daughters are completely inlove with the Backyardigans and I found some fleece at Joanns. It was very expensive. I could not believe it, but it was well worth it because the girls love that blanket.

Here is Sinalei sitting on it

Well that about wraps things up this time. Hope you all had a fun Halloween. What were your kids and did you dress up? Till next time.

Busy, busy weekend!!!

Well this weekend was sooooo fun. Jared and I were able to hang out with some of my friends from High School and church. Thank goodness for moms because my mother-in-law offered to take care of the kids. We arrived 30 minutes late because my husband takes twice as long to get ready than I do. I swear I'm the man in the relationship. Anyway when we got there we played couple pictionary. I am terrible at this game, but Jared is a pro. Take a look at one of his pictures he drew in 30 seconds.

It was balance beam. Kellie and Brett were the champs. They blew everyone away. I have a feeling they practice in secret all the time.

Chiemi and Brett were hilarious. They got some pretty difficult words.

This is Kellie and Brett. Pictionary Champions.
It was so much fun to hang out with them. Hopefully we'll do it again.

Today was a special day for my brother Greg and his friend Dennise. Greg got to baptize her. It was a lovely program. I am so happy for Dennise and I hope she will grow stronger and develop a deeper testimony of our Savior.

Well that's about it. We did a couple of other things like go to Down Town Disney. The girls love going places. Jared and I enjoy making them happy so we try to find things to do that don't cost a lot of money or nothing at all. If you have any suggestions, please share. Hopefully we will make it to the Pumpkin Patch with my good friend Chiemi. It's going to be so much fun!

Weight Loss and Haircut

Ok so I lost one pound this week...29 more to go. I was a little disappointed, but I shouldn't be, considering how I ate this past weekend. Lets just say I went out of control while my husband was gone. I think I had takeout for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Starting tomorrow I am going to try and eat healthier. Looking back on how my week was...one pound LOST is GREAT.
Now my haircut. I cut off 5 inches. I think I will like it more once it grows out a little bit. The girl who cut my hair asked me if I wanted bangs and I said "sure, but not short because I wear my hair curly too." Now what do you think she did? She cut short bangs!!!! Ahhhh....now I will have to straighten my hair all the time till my bangs grow out...NOT FUN for a mother of two young babies. Anyway, when Jared saw my hair he said it was "different" but he liked it. How am I suppose to take that? LOL. Oh well..that's a man for ya.

Mommy and Sinalei

The past couple of days my husband and oldest daughter have been out of town. Jared's sister Lolohea's son was blessed on Sunday. Unfortunately, I was not able to go due to the cost of airfare.....so sad, but I was thinking of my little nephew all day Sunday. Jared said it turned out wonderful so that makes me happy.
So Sinalei and I got some quality time together. We spent a couple of days with my mom and family. It was so nice. Having one child is such a walk in the park. I remember thinking having one baby was so difficult...but it's not...well not for me. I had so much free time I didn't know what to do. I even got to get a haircut...I'm still adjusting to it. Anyway I miss my husband and daughter so much, but I am glad that I was able to spend a lot of time with my baby Sinalei. She is def. a handful, but I love her and her sister to pieces. They are my life and I would sacrifice anything for them.

Weight Loss

I am soooooo inspired by Kellie and Brett's blog. I too feel like if I set a goal and actually publish it I will feel more compelled to lose some weight.
Having children has def. changed my body and I've always had weight issues growing up. My weight would constantly yo-yo up and down. I would like to maintain a healthy weight for my height. I will NOT put my real weight up, but I would like to lose 30 pounds. Each Tuesday I will let you know how much I've lost or gained. Hopefully this works!!!!! Pictures coming soon!!! Kellie you guys are hilarious!!

I would like to look like this again. Just an image to motivate myself
